Honeydripper

Honeydripper is a dual-level vinyl listening lounge in Adelaide’s CBD, celebrating slowed-down lounge culture, together with local craft and makers. Drawing on immersive 1970s domestic interiors, the design is acoustically led, layering warmth, texture and the familiar.

The site began as an empty shell of concrete and glazing, with a mezzanine introduced to realise the dual-level concept and allow the venue to unfold across two distinct moods. The lower level is planned as a generous lounge that invites lingering and shared listening, while the upper level shifts into a more intimate, club-like environment. Existing concrete columns informed the spatial planning, guiding bar placement while framing moments throughout, with a symmetrical lounge layout anchoring the entry sequence.

The materials strategy set out to prioritise approachability over spectacle. Readily available materials - perforated varnished MDF, studded vinyl flooring and glass mosaic tiles - are layered with feature elements including walnut, recycled HDPE and locally sourced leather. All new furniture is Australian made, complemented by curated vintage pieces to introduce patina and familiarity within a brand-new build.
